Interview with Nina Nesbitt

Who is your musical inspiration?
I don't really have one particular inspiration, I like to take inspiration from lots of different people. An example of some people who inspire my music are Ellie Goulding, Eva Cassidy, Joni Mitchell, Ed Sheeran and Example.

You direct, produce and edit your videos, do you want to keep it that way so you have control over the message that your music sends out?
For the last EP that was the best option I think because it was all live takes and had a raw and home made feel to it so I think making my own videos for it just added to that. It was also a very cost effective option! They cost nothing to make and I got to do exactly what I wanted to do so it worked out well I feel. I never set out to make my own videos at all they just kind of came around, I got bored one night whilst back home and came up with the note book concept for Glue.

Had you always wanted to get into music? If not what was your ideal career?
I've always been interested in it and loved singing but not thought I could do it as a career as I know it's very hard to get in to, but with the current opportunities I've been given its been amazing and I'm very happy to be able to do what I love! If I hadn't been a singer I think I would have gone in to fashion design or psychology, I find both very interesting.

What is your favourite experience been so far?
There has been so many amazing experiences in the past six months it's hard to pin point one, but touring with ed and example or getting to perform at the SECC arena alongside such amazing artists (Jessie j, pixie Lott, olly murs etc) were definitely high lights. I also had my first ever headline gig in Glasgow last week which I really enjoyed as it was a totally different experience for me, I sold it out so it was really busy and very intimate venue so everyone was really warm and friendly and I got to meet them all after which was nice.

Do you write your own songs - if so what mood do you need to be in to write your songs?
Of course! I like to make sure I write all my own songs. I don't need to be in a particular mood to write, I write a song more or less every day! It's not something that is forced they just kind of come out. It's good to write songs all the time, it's a good way of keeping track of feelings and events.

Who is your fashion inspiration?
I wouldn't say there is a particular person, but I love all the vintage shops and quirky things. I love putting together out fits and don't intend on ever getting a stylist  as I enjoy picking out clothes myself.

Do you find that people you knew before treat you differently now?
I have a group of really close friends that treat me exactly the same, I'm still the same person it's just my surroundings that have changed in the past while. I wouldn't expect to be treated any different.

Where do you hope to be in a year?
Touring, recording, writing and more.

Origins

Today I experienced my first Origins facial. Their products are all natural and made with certified organic ingredients. They are also eco-friendly, as they are manufactured using a combination of renewable resources, wind energy and earth-friendly practices.

...and their products smell amazing.

Threading V Waxing

Most girls can tell that red, swollen, just had waxed eye brow look, well I certainly can, but that hasn't put me off waxing. I have been going through the pain for five years now. In October 2011 I tried threading for the first time, it's just as painful as waxing... so I converted back to my old ways.

I was suggested to try threading again by a friend,
(for my local readers - the salon I was recommended is at Afreen Fashion and Beauty, where eye brow threading costs £4, 181 Constitution Street, Edinburgh - visit www.afreenfashions.com or www.facebook.com/afreenfashions

I have got to say it is definitely less painful a second time and you do not have the redness or swelling as you do from waxing.

A little more than skin deep
Threading is the removal of facial hair derived from Asia and the Middle East. Hair is removed using cotton thread which is twisted and rolled along the surface of the skin, entwining the unwanted hairs in the thread, they are then lifted from the follicle with an even tension.
It's an art.
Treading avoids irritation and skin rashes as the top layer of skin is not stripped off. Also because threading is natural process it is highly recommended for sensitive skin.

ahhhh MEGA EXCITED!!!

I have just got off the phone from my mum after pestering her for months to go to New York with me for my 21st and we have JUST booked.

I'm like a kid on Christmas day.

I went to New York, on a high school trip when I was 16... but wanted to do something amazing for my 21st and my mum has never been.

My birthday is mid June but I'm going in September due to the temperature in June and found an amazing deal with Virgin Atlantic.

So booked up.

Blake Lively Hair

Blake Lively or also known as Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl,
which if you don't watch you are missing out,
is my hair icon.

In her recent interview for March's Elle edition Lively stated about the men in her life:
“I’ve had four boyfriends in my whole life. I’ve never been with anyone that’s not a boyfriend. If I spend time with a man, it’s because there’s somebody that I know well who has been a friend for a while.“
She also spoke about her relationship with Ryan Reynolds and their house hunting on Fifth Avenue:
“Newspapers say a lot of stuff, don’t they? Though I wish I could afford half the places that I hear I’m looking at. Sign me up!"

She has grabbed a lot of headline space by saying she's only ever had four boyfriends.

forget those headlines its ALL about that hair do... In my opinion she's the new 'Rachel' (Jennifer Aniston) hair style.

I have compared notes from many magazines/blogs on her hair to come up with the following top tips

February must have list

another month of cold weather,
but here's a few mini life saves aka beauty buys to get you through this winter weather...

Burt's Bee's lip balm - Amazing for conditioning and soften lips and smells of coconut and peppermint, which leaves your lips refreshingly tingly.... it's the companies 1# best seller

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner - with the changes in temperature from outside to indoor heating this keeps your hair in top condition

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream - this product is good on its own as an intensive lip balm and is very good for any dry skin, but mixed with other cream it works well too, I once used it when I was sun burnt and it worked wonders.

The Body Shop Olive Scrub - it's best to use this on dry skin then turn the shower on. It's aimed for people with normal to dry

Bourjois Bronzer - just in case you want a little summer glow, this bronzer is good to add a little colour, or to build up, It is not  shimmery, which I really like as it makes a great contour and photographs well. It smells like chocolate - makes me love it more!

Thanks for reading, If you know of other good products to beat the February blues let me know :)
